glass pie plate

9.0x 1.5  inch/22.86 x 3.8 cm interior measurement. Holds approximately 1.05 Qt/1.0 L volume.

Available at The Bay & The Gourmet Warehouse.

I prefer a glass pie plate because it heats up quickly and holds the heat, so that your pie pastry bakes and sets before your filling has a chance to seep through.

A glass pie plate is a classic way to bake and present your pies with consistent and even baking.

  • Glass promotes consistent baking and browning for your fruit and savoury pies
  • Heavy duty high borosilicate glass is oven, microwave and freezer safe
  • Safe for temperatures up to 450°F/242°C
  • Shock resistant and freezer to oven safe for pre-heated ovens up to up to 356°F/180°C
  • Dishwasher safe
  • Made in China

anna's top tips

  • Crimping the edge of your pie dough is more than decorative – it secures the pastry onto the edge of the pie plate.
  • Blind baking a pie crust is essential for pies that have pre-cooked fillings.  To do this, place foil over the pastry-lined pie plate and top the foil with dried beans or rice.  Bake the crust for 15-20 minutes then lift the foil (and weights) off to finish baking.
